Records of justice of the peace in Tolland County, Conn., including the fining of George White and John Boynton for breaking the Sabbath in 1814. Letter from his nephew Nathaniel Olmsted in 1822 asks advice about moving westward and from Anne Andrus in 1836 describes Burchard's preaching in Vermont. Includes undated Constitution of the Connecticut Society for the Promotion of Good Morals and receipt from Daniel Dewey, Hartford cabinetmaker, in 1823.

Samuel Dennis White was born on March 9, 1818, in Parishville, New York. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1837 and in 1841 married Mary Hannah Burton in Nauvoo, Illinois. After stopping for a time in Garden Grove, Iowa, the Whites traveled to Utah in 1850, and spent the next several years working on the Cedar City settlement. White also wrote for the newly established Deseret News and made two trips east to assist Mormon emmigrants traveling to Utah. He died while att...
